24th February 2019 – Orford Ness
Our visit to Orford Ness gave the group a couple of unique task opportunities. First was a smaller team that took the time to clean and clear out the NAAFI building in preparation for its use as an exhibition space. Second was a team cutting and raking hay from smaller islands, to promote a wider variety of birdlife to be able to make use of them. Both tasks required a high level of resourcefulness, and team work!
It’s always a privilege to visit Orford Ness, particularly for our newer volunteers who were visiting for the first time. At the end of the day, the Ranger gave them a quick tour of the highlights, covering the history of the site, before returning back across the water to Orford Quay before sunset (and we were getting close this time!)
Thanks everyone for the hard work and enthusiasm to get so much done!
