ESNTV Tasks

5th June 2022 – Hatfield Forest

Our task this week was at a new venue for the group at Hatfield Forest in Essex, a well preserved Royal Hunting Forest , Site of Special Scientific Interest and a National Nature Reserve. We were warmly welcomed by the resident shepard Ian Pease and his equally friendly working dog Selina. The task included the clearance of trees and scrub in an area know as The Marsh. This area had recently been used for grazing sheep. If left unchecked the young trees would slowly encroach into the marshland and meadow turning it into woodland. We also enjoyed a rare summer treat of a bonfire and managed to burn virtually all that had been cut down.
Our hard work was greatly appreciated and we made a very good impression towards future tasks there.
Well done everyone!
